What Is a Vampire Facial? Everything to Know About the Skin Treatment

The name Vampire Facial sounds kind of ominous – but it’s actually a very exciting anti-ageing treatment that’s fast gaining in popularity.

The Vampire Facial (also referred to as a blood facial) is one of the most talked-about anti-ageing treatments of this decade. Instead of cutting, slicing or using unnatural substances to fill, remove or reduce wrinkles, the Vampire Facial harnesses the very powerful, natural healing ability of your body to reduce the signs of ageing. Giving you a fresher, firmer and more youthful appearance in a more natural way.

What does the vampire facial help with?

  • Improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks.
  • Rejuvenate the under-eye area.
  • Reduce the size of open poors.
  • Plump and volumise any area (e.g. cheeks).

In fact, back in 2015 the uptake of the Vampire Facial grew by a whopping 25% and its popularity has continued to increase steadily ever since. This boom was thanks to the huge media coverage and several celebrities announcing that their youthful appearance was partly down to this innovative procedure.

Vampire Facial Results

But is this just another beauty fad that’s going to disappear as soon as the hype dies down?

I don’t think so – here’s why…

1:The Vampire Facial Harnesses Your Body’s Own Regeneration Power

The real beauty of the Vampire Facial is that it doesn’t manipulate or change your body forcibly like surgery, but instead harnesses your body’s own ability to heal and regenerate. A Vampire Facial is a type of PRP treatment that uses your own platelets from your blood to stimulate a healing response.

During the treatment, your aesthetic doctor takes some of your blood, like in a blood test, then places that blood into a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This platelet-rich plasma is then inserted into the deeper layers of the skin on your face using a microneedling device.

Once inside your body, the platelets get to work. Stimulating the regeneration of old, weakened skin cells and promoting the growth of new collagen and elastin. Giving you brighter, healthier and more youthful-looking skin.

2: It’s Non-Surgical & Pretty Much Pain-Free

The Vampire Facial is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment. This means there’s no need for a general anaesthetic and no cutting, slicing, scarring or trauma to your face.

The microneedling device creates tiny puncture holes, pushing the regenerating platelet-rich plasma into the skin. Although this might sound unpleasant, the holes are so minuscule that it’s actually much more comfortable than you would expect.

Before the treatment, your aesthetic doctor will apply a local anaesthetic cream to help numb your face and reduce any discomfort. Most people say that the procedure is a relatively painless experience, so it’s easy to see why it is such a popular treatment.

3: It’s Safe & There’s No Recovery Time Needed

PRP treatments are safe, effective and have been used for medical purposes, such as healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints for many years.

Because the Vampire Facial uses only your own platelets, there’s no risk of allergies or adverse reactions. Some people experience some mild redness and swelling due to the tiny microneedles, but this resolves without intervention within 24-48 hours. You don’t need to rest following the treatment or take any time off work to recover.

There’s no general anaesthetic required so none of the risks associated with being put to sleep either. Making it much safer than a surgical facelift or some other anti-ageing treatments.

4: It Does More Than Just Anti-Ageing

A surgical facelift can tighten your skin and stretch out your wrinkles. Injectable fillers can help reduce wrinkles and plump drooping or sagging skin. But a Vampire Facial can do more than just anti-ageing.

Because a Vampire Facial works on healing and regenerating the cells in your skin, it can help give your face a more vibrant appearance. Dull, lacklustre skin can be brightened, wrinkles smoothed, large pores reduced and skin tone and texture improved.

Giving you not only fewer wrinkles and younger-looking skin but a brighter, firmer and healthier appearance too.

5: It’s A Very Affordable Treatment

The popularity of non-surgical anti-ageing treatments is increasing fast, and it’s easy to see why. Not only are they safe, painless and less traumatic to the body than surgical treatments, they’re low-cost too.

Here in the UK, a Vampire Facial starts from just £450 – making it an affordable anti-ageing treatment.

Lower cost procedures don’t just mean you can save money, but they make anti-ageing treatments available to more people, instead of just the rich and famous. Part of our mission here at Elite Aesthetics is to enable as many people as possible to get access to these treatments, boosting body confidence and helping them to feel more comfortable with their appearance.

Considering Getting A Vampire Facial? There’s Some Things You Need To Know…

When completed by a skilled and trained aesthetic doctor the Vampire Facial is a safe, effective and painless procedure. But here in the UK, aesthetic procedures are not very well regulated, meaning anyone can set up in business and provide aesthetic treatments.

The Vampire Facelift is different to most aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers or skin needling. It’s not just any PRP treatment, but a carefully crafted, tried and tested, patented procedure.

As stated on the official Vampire Facial website, only people listed on the members of the Vampire Facial Provider Group, know the trade secrets of the Vampire Facial® and can perform it to the highest standards.

Here at Elite Aesthetics, not only are we official providers of the Vampire Facial, but our clinic is headed by Aesthetic Doctor, Dr Shirin Lakhani who has more than 20 years experience in the medical and aesthetics field.

So if you’re looking for a reputable and official provider for your Vampire Facial, so you can be sure you’ll get professional treatment and effective results, then contact us today for a consultation.

You can buy Viviscal Professional and have it posted to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vampire facial boosts collagen production, lifting and tightening skin, making it perfect for the treatment of fine lines and drooping skin, often brought on by ageing, stress or the menopause. It can also be used to treat mild scarring.

What is a Blood Facial?

Blood Facial is another name for the Vampire Facial, which uses your own blood to regenerate your skin.

How Much does a Vampire Facial Cost?

A Vampire Facial is £450, which includes the treatment and finishing products after the treatment.

What is the Vampire Facial Treatment?

The Vampire Facial is a revolutionary new facial treatment to brighten and smooth skin, leaving you looking and feeling fresher and more youthful. A Vampire Facial involves extracting plasma from the patient’s own blood, and then applying it to the face with the help of a medical micro-needling device.

The Vampire facial works by using the bodies own Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), a substance that naturally occurs in our blood, and applying it to the skin. PRP contains a concentration of platelets (the smallest and most numerous type of blood cells) that is five to ten times richer than untreated blood.

Usually, the primary function of platelets is to help clot blood when you have a cut or small wound, protecting the area from infection while white blood cells repair the injury. Because of this, platelets also contain growth factors that help to stimulate division of other cells, activate multipotent stem cells (cells that can develop into any kind of tissue) and promote the skin’s natural healing process.

Platelets and PRP have been used for over 20 years in the medical industry, to help promote the healing of sports injuries. Thanks to developments in technology, PRP treatments are now available for use on the skin, facehairbody, and even for intimate treatments.

The Vampire facial at Elite Aesthetics in Kent uses PRP in conjunction with skin microneedling to further enhance the effects of PRP. Skin microneedling creates micro-injuries in the skin, allowing the PRP to sink into deeply into the layers of the skin. These micro-injuries also trick the skin into thinking there’s an injury and that the healing process should begin, increasing collagen production and the development of new blood vessels and fatty tissue, assisted by the effects of the PRP. After a few days, the effects of the Vampire facial are visible, but continue to improve for up to two or three months, and last from one to two years.

We know this all sounds a bit scary, but the Vampire facial is actually a very safe treatment. Since the active ingredient, PRP, is from your own body, there’s no risk of an allergic reaction with a Vampire facial.

The Vampire facial is used to treat ageing skin by smoothing the skin and reducing the appearance of pigmentation and age spots. Creating a healthy, beautiful and glowing complexion, the Vampire facial is loved by celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian and model Bar Refaeli, as well as our clients slightly closer to home, across the Dartford, Bexley, Kings Hill, Gravesend, Maidstone and Sevenoaks area.

An alternative to the Vampire Facelift is the HiFU Facelift, which is non-surigical.

Kim Kardashian and her Vampire Facial Treatment

When we inject the platelets into the face, it tricks the body into thinking that there has been an injury, bringing growth factors to aid new collagen formation and thus tightening your skin.

“Even though it wasn’t for me, I know it has so many benefits for your skin,” Kim said.

“Kourtney is a huge fan and I know a lot of other people that love it, too.”

Does a vampire facial really work?

While Vampire Facials are a very effective treatment, unfortunately they cannot do exactly what plastic surgery can. … A Vampire Facial helps with skin complexion, etched in wrinkles and lines, melasma, acne, and acne scarring

How long does it take to recover from a vampire facial?

The downtime for vampire facials varies from person to person, but patients typically notice a significant improvement after the first two or three days. Most patients will have fully healed after one week.

Does a vampire facial hurt?

Not really, provided a numbing cream or if required a nerve block is applied. We can also reduce the depth of the needling to minimise any pain. Most find the treatment comfortable.

Does vampire facial tighten skin?

The treatment triggers collagen production. Collagen is the ‘latticework of the face,’ so a PRP facial helps tighten, smooth and improve skin tone.

How many vampire facial treatments are needed?

It is dependent upon each individual and the goals you wish to achieve. Patients do experience an improvement in skin complexion and texture immediately after treatment.

How long after a vampire facial Can you wash your face?

To Maximize Your Results:

For a minimum of 5 hours after the PRP has been applied to your skin, do NOT do anything that would wash off the blood such as : wash your skin, expose the treated area/s to direct high heat, or engage in physical activities that will get you wet or cause you to sweat (sun exposure, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, very hot shower, hot yoga, swimming)

Does PRP get rid of wrinkles?

There has been a lot of research suggesting how PRP works on damaged skin and wrinkles. A September 2017 study in the Aesthetic surgery journal (1) found that after an injection of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma, see video below), doctors observed an increase of reticular dermis thickness (the lower of the two layers of the dermis (skin)). This thickening of the skin was caused by deposition of elastic fibers (the stuff of skin elasticity) and collagen, with a fibrotic aspect (skin regeneration).

The researchers concluded: “PRP injection could lead to trophic (bringing blood) alteration of the skin and the precocious (premature) aging process.”

Can you wear makeup after a vampire facial?

Do not apply any kind of makeup. When you do apply any skin products, remember to wash the brushes carefully to remove any possible infection-causing pathogens.

Does vampire facial help pigmentation?

Yes, the treatment can help with pigmentation.

In the Vampire Facial, platelet rich plasma (PRP) can be used anywhere on the body to reduce pigment, reduce stretchmarks, treat wrinkles and lighten scarring. … Used on thousands of patients worldwide, the Vampire Facial has been shown to be both safe and effective.

What is the difference between microneedling and a vampire facial?

The difference between microneedling and vampire facial:

Microneedling is a quick collagen inducting treatment which uses micro needles to penetrate the skin.

Vampire Facial is an extract of your own blood that contains platelets. When PRP is placed back into the skin using microneedling, it initiates a localised growth cell response.

Is vampire facial worth it?

Real self say it’s 91% worth it.

Can vampire facial be done on neck?

Yes, a vampire facial can be done on the neck to help with pigmentation and collagen building. However, if it’s loose skin around the neck, then we would recommend a thread lift.

Can I have a vampire facial when pregnant?

Unfortunately, we do not treat women whilst they are pregnant.

Does the vampire facial help with acne?

The Vampire Facial is also great for addressing an array of skin concerns, such as fine lines, uneven texture, acne/acne scars, age-related skin dullness and even stretch marks.

Can you do a vampire facial at home?

To do a Vampire Facial you must have attended and passed the official Vampire Facial training course. The training covers the techniques in detail to ensure the best results are achieved. In particular, a high quality centrifuge is required to separate the PRP from your blood

Can you exercise after vampire facial?

Ideally you should avoid exercise after the facial as any sweat would interfere with the absorption of the PRP from your blood.

What is vampire facial lift?

A Vampire Facelift combines both the Vampire Facial with Dermal Fillers to give a lift to your face, whilst at the same time rejuvenating your skin.

Vampire facial for acne scars?

Acne scars can be reduced by a Vampire Facial, however, this would be mostly attributed to the microneedling that is part of this treatment.

Vampire facial for hair growth?

A Vampire for Hair restoration can be done with promising results. Please ensure you visit a registered practitioner as listed in the official online register.

Vampire facial and botox

It is recommended to wait 2 weeks between a Vampire facial and a botox treatment

Vampire facial benefits
  • Tighter, Firmer Skin
  • Reduced Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Improved Moisture Retention
  • Enhanced Skin Tone and Texture
Vampire Facial vs Vampire Facelift
  • Vampire facial – PRP is applied to the skin through microneedling. This treatment is ideal for overall skin rejuvenation, including improvement to scarring, fine lines and brown spots. This option is more superficial than the facelift.
  • Vampire facelift – PRP is combined with a dermal filler and injected into the skin. This treatment is ideal for patients hoping to improve volume loss and add youthful height and curves to their cheeks. The filler adds lift and volume, and the platelet rich plasma helps build collagen scaffolding over time to support new volume.
Vampire Facial vs PRP

Vampire Facial and PRP are in fact the same treatment, with the exception that a Vampire Facial has a strict protocol to follow, which then provides the best results. For example, the quality of the centrifuge and the additives to encourage stem cell growth are key to obtaining the optimum results.

Vampire Facial vs Chemical Peel

Chemical peels and the Vampire Facial will improve the appearance of your skin. Chemical peels generally work best on superficial imperfections, while microneedling in the Vampire Facial penetrates deeper to improve more troublesome issues.

Microneedling will reach deeper under the skin to promote healing of scarred areas. Once the microneedling treatments are complete, a chemical peel can rejuvenate your skin further, leaving you with clearer, younger-looking skin.

Vampire Lift Facial

Vampire Lift Facial facial is the same as a Vampire Facial, which rejuvenates your face using your own bodies stem cells.

Our Process
Our Process

At Elite Aesthetics, our Vampire facial procedures are carried out by our highly-qualified aesthetician Charlotte Thomas. All of our treatments at Elite Aesthetics require a full consultation to ensure your safety, comfort and happiness when you come for a treatment with us.

During a Vampire facial, Charlotte will take a small blood sample and put it into a centrifuge to separate the red and white blood cells from the PRP, concentrating the PRP for a more effective treatment.

A numbing cream is applied to the face, and using a Derma FNS device the PRP is administered during your microneedling treatment. This ensures that the PRP is distributed deeply into the dermis where it can be most effective.

Why You Should Choose Elite Aesthetics For Your Vampire Facial

Despite generally being a very safe treatment, we always recommend that you go to a fully qualified practitioner like Charlotte for your Vampire facial treatment.

Charlotte Thomas has been with Elite Aesthetics since 2013, and came to us with several years of experience from some of London’s most prestigious clinics. Yesterday I had a 'body sculpt' session, to help lymphatic drainage. I was zipped into a suit up to my waist. This massaged and lightly squeezed my feet, ankles, calves, thighs and abdomen. I was breathing oxygen rich air via nasal tubes. It was very relaxing and I slept really well last night. Thank you Elite Aesthetics.
