How Does the Treatment Work?

The PRP for hair treatment is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment. This means there’s no need for a general anaesthetic and no cutting, slicing, scarring or trauma to your face.

The microneedling device creates tiny puncture holes, pushing the regenerating platelet-rich plasma into the skin. Although this might sound unpleasant, the holes are so minuscule that it’s actually much more comfortable than you would expect.

Before the treatment, your aesthetician will apply a local anaesthetic cream to help numb your head and reduce any discomfort. Most people say that the procedure is a relatively painless experience, so it’s easy to see why it is such a popular treatment.

What To Look For When Choosing a Clinic or Aesthetician

Unfortunately, the aesthetic industry is not nearly regulated enough. Clinics are required to be registered with the CQC if they wish to offer medical treatments. The doctor must be trained, qualified or insured to perform this type of treatment, however, there are clinics offering this treatment without the reassurance of CQC registration! Because of this it’s very important that you research and choose a doctor that you know to be qualified, skilled and safe.

For some, baldness and thinning hair can be devastating and have a real impact on confidence. It can unfortunately cause both men and women to look older and substantially change a person’s appearance.

We offer a number of treatments in combination with supplements to combat hair loss and to improve thickness. One such treatment is Vampire Hair Restoration, with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair loss that is suitable for male pattern baldness, thinning hair and female hair loss. Thinning or bald patches on the scalp can be treated by Platelet Rich Plasma which stimulates dormant hair follicles, encouraging them to start growing again.

Blood is taken from the patient in exactly the same way that it would be taken during a routine blood test. This blood is then spun in a centrifuge which separates out the cells, serum and platelets. These platelets (containing the natural growth factors that stimulate inactive cells to promote collagen and tissue growth) are then drawn into a syringe and injected into areas of the scalp.

Performed under a local anaesthetic, the procedure is relatively comfortable and has little to no downtime. You should start to see and feel an improvement to the treated area within three months of the treatment and you will also notice a reduction in the amount of hair being shed.
