BHRT is a Hormone Replacement Therapy, which means it helps to replace hormone levels that have been lost due to ageing or the menopause.

BHRT treatment can help to replenish a variety of hormones in the body, each with different functions. As your treatment plan is completely tailored to you and your body, you don’t have to worry about having too much of one hormone or too little of another in your treatment plan.

Hormones carry out a huge variety of functions in the body, so balancing and replenishing them can help reduce many different issues and symptoms. BHRT treatment can help to balance:

• Testosterone, which is the hormone that stimulates the body to develop and maintain healthy muscles and bones, as well as improve stamina. Increasing testosterone in the body also increases libido and can improve mood swings, anxiety and depression. Low testosterone also can lead to higher cholesterol, changes in blood pressure and prostate issues in men.
• Oestrogen, which helps protect against cardiovascular disease and helps to maintain healthy bone structure, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Oestrogen also contributes to improving the health of skin and other tissues, reducing symptoms of GSM, including vaginal dryness, and reducing the incidence and severity of hot flushes and night sweats. It also helps to improve libido and sexual function in women.
• Progesterone, which is a stimulatory and regulatory hormone, that balances oestrogen levels, and can treat irregular menstruation, anxiety and sleep issues in women. In men, progesterone can help balance out testosterone therapy and reduce side effects of the treatment. It can also help improve sexual desire and performance, reduce fatigue and weight gain and help temper high blood pressure.
• DHEA, or dehyroepiandrosterone is a hormone that is required for the production of both testosterone and oestrogen, and is the most abundant hormone in the body, though begins to reduce from around 25 years old. DHEA supports the immune system and can help to prevent obesity, heart disease, cancer and obesity.
• Thyroid hormones help to stimulate the metabolic system and increase energy in the body. When the thyroid is either producing a low amount of hormones, or the receptor response in the body is low there are many issues that occur. Fatigue, high cholesterol, difficulty losing weight, depression and chronic pain are all associated with hypothyroidism (low production of thyroid hormones).
• Vitamin D3 is an important fat-soluble vitamin that helps to improve bone structure and formation, as well as helping to maintain normal function in the immune system, thyroid and insulin production.

In the past, concerns were raised about the safety of traditional HRT treatment, leading to many women who were using HRT to stop treatment and see the return of their menopausal symptoms. With BHRT treatments at Elite Aesthetics, we require a full initial conversation between you and Dr. Shirin, including a blood and saliva test. Then, you’ll have a second session to discuss the results and determine whether the treatment is right for you, both personally and medically. Then we’ll order your prescription and you’ll come for a third short session, where Dr. Shirin will demonstrate how to take your medication. Then you’re ready to go!
