Most patients know what Peyronie’s is, but if you’re unfamiliar with it or have only recently been diagnosed, here’s a recap.
Peyronie’s is a condition resulting from scar tissue that develops in the penis and causes curved, painful erections.
The cause is not entirely understood. However, it most commonly occurs after injury to the penis. An injury could arise from vigorous sexual activity, athletic activity, or as a result of an accident.
Symptoms of Peyronie’s are:
- Visible bumps – Scar tissue can often be felt underneath the skin and can make your penis look bumpy.
- Curved penis – Your penis will have a significant bend or curve.
- Erection problems – Either problems getting an erection or maintaining an erection.
- Shortening/narrowing penis – The scar formation pulls on the tissue and shortens it.
- Pain – This can be experienced with or without an erection but is most common whilst erect.
Men suffering from Peyronie’s Disease may struggle to have sexual intercourse due to experiencing severe pain when the penis is erect. Erectile dysfunction is a common symptom that follows because even if you can get an erection, maintaining one is difficult.
This can lead to a strain on relationships as well as cause low moods and severe anxiety.

Medication And Topical Treatment
Drugs are available, but even the best medication won’t make Peyronie’s Disease curable.
You must consult a doctor before taking any medication. The most common medications prescribed to treat Peyronie’s Disease are:
Collagenase
This is the FDA-approved medication specifically for Peyronie’s Disease. It improves the curvature of the penis, as well as other symptoms of Peyronie’s. It works by breaking down the build-up of collagen that causes penile curvature.
Verapamil
These are actually tablets used to treat high blood pressure, but there is evidence to suggest that they also disrupt the production of collagen that causes penile curvature.
Interferon
This is an injection of a protein that disrupts the production of scar tissue that causes the penis to curve; like the other treatments, it reduces the build-up and helps to reduce the pain that men can suffer from Peyronie’s Disease.
Surgical Interventions
Surgery is only ever considered for extreme cases, and again, this won’t make Peyronie’s Disease curable. The surgery is only advised after the plaque production and curving have stopped getting worse, or shown signs of worsening for at least 9 months.
There are three surgical methods:
Surgery To Shorten
This involves shortening the side of the penis opposite to the curve. Either small pieces of tissue on the outside of the curve are cut away and sewn closed, or the tissue is folded and pulled together with surgical thread.
The drawback to this procedure is that it results in a smaller penis.
Surgery To Lengthen
Your surgeon would make the side of the penis that is curved longer by cutting away the plaque to ease tension. The space that is left is then filled with a graft.
Although this surgery does ensure that you don’t lose any length, it can make erectile dysfunction worse for some men.
Penile Prosthetic Devices
This is when an inflatable pump or malleable silicone rod is placed inside the penis. It results in straightening the penis and helps to make the penis stiff enough for sex.
The surgical options will only ever be offered for extreme cases, and a lot of men are nervous about such procedures.
If you are looking for a non-invasive option, then the P-Shot might be best for you.
P-Shot: A Non-Surgical Treatment
The P-Shot is one the most frequently requested treatments for Peyronie’s Disease. The P-Shot has a reputation for reducing symptoms so significantly many men feel like they’re back to their old selves.
The P-Shot is a pioneering treatment that treats erectile issues such as impotence or the inability to maintain a firm erection. It is especially effective at treating Peyronie’s Disease because it can correct the bend in the penis by helping tackle plaque build-up.
It relies on platelet-rich plasma found in your blood to stimulate the growth of new, younger tissue and increase blood flow.
PRP treatments have been used successfully to repair damaged muscles and nerves for over 20 years because they contain cell-regenerating growth factors essential for treatment. The procedure works by taking a small amount of your blood which is then spun at a high frequency within a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma.
Your doctor will inject the PRP into your treatment area. This might sound uncomfortable, but the whole procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so there is little to no pain.
By improving the blood supply and triggering tissue regeneration, patients notice an increase in the ability to get an erection and maintain the firmness of their erections.
The treatment is very easy, with minimal discomfort. And you will see noticeable results in as little as 3 weeks.
The P Shot is a remarkable treatment for those with Peyronie’s and is much less invasive than other options, especially surgical ones.
There is a high success rate, too, and in our clinic, around 84.2% of the men we have treated have gone from being unable to get an erection to being able to have penetrative sex without pain. In some cases, some patients have even experienced increased penis length and girth.
It is a popular choice because it has the longest-lasting effects and doesn’t result in a loss of length. Our patients have said that the P-Shot is the closest a treatment has come to making their Peyronie’s Disease curable.
