8 Point Facelift Vs Botox: What Should You Choose?
The 8-point facelift is one of the most asked-after treatments at our clinic in Dartford, Kent. It is an innovative procedure that can take away up to 10 years from your face – but how does it stack up against industry favourite, Botox?
The 8-Point Facelift
The 8-point facelift has benefited from years of research and development; it was first developed by renowned plastic surgeon Mauricio de Mai and has a huge fan base worldwide.
The treatment is celebrated as one of the most advanced non-surgical approaches to anti-ageing. It uses longer-lasting dermal fillers at 8 specific points to replenish lost volume and achieve a highly flattering lift across your whole face.
The 8-point facelift treats the following areas:
- Under Eye Area – Plumping dark circles to smooth the area for a refreshed and rested look.
- Nasolabial Folds – These are the nose-to-mouth lines that become deeper and more prominent with age and can make you look older. The fillers help to plump this area so that lines and wrinkles appear smoother.
- Upper Cheeks – Dermal fillers here replenish the lost volume, tighten your skin and provide a substantial lift to the rest of your face.
- Cheeks – Adding volume to this area gives you a peachy youthful look.
- Corners of Mouth – The 8-point facelift targets the area, not as a lip enhancement but rather to lift a sad mouth into a more appealing position.
- Jowl – Dermal fillers help to re-contour and tighten loose skin.
- Jaw Line – Lifting the jawline gives you a more defined profile.
Each treated area helps restore plumpness, smooth out lines, and subtly reposition sagging skin, leaving you looking healthy and radiant.
The fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which increases your skin’s moisture retention whilst stimulating your body’s natural collagen production.
The transformation is instant, and although more subtle than a surgical facelift, the results are still very noticeable. Unlike a surgical lift, the changes are not permanent, so if you are happy with how it looks, you can repeat the procedure after about 18 months.
Botox
Botulinum toxin (produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum) is commonly known by the most well-known brand name, Botox (there are other brands we use, like Azzalure.) Clostridium botulinum was first discovered by Belgian scientist Emile Pierre van Ermengem in 1895, but it wasn’t until 1920 that scientists tried to isolate the botulinum toxin for medical use.
By the 1970s, scientists started using the toxin to treat strabismus, a condition that causes crossed eyes. It was during the testing period that they discovered that it also reduced wrinkles.
After successfully treating strabismus, a company called Allergan licensed the treatment and branded it Botox. Botox has gone on to receive FDA approval for a variety of medical and cosmetic uses, including:
- Neck spasms
- Migraines
- Muscles spasms – such as cerebral palsy
- Strabismus – lazy, crossed, or misaligned eyes
- Hyperhidrosis – excessive sweating
- Bladder problems – such as incontinence
Botox injections block chemical signals from the nerves that cause your muscles to contract. When injected into your face, the muscles relax, smoothing out lines and wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and frown lines.
The 8-Point Facelift vs Botox
So now you know what each is, how do they compare?
The 8-point facelift lasts longer than Botox. Typically you can expect an 8-point facelift to last up to 18 months, whereas Botox lasts for 3-4 months.
An 8-point facelift at Elite Aesthetics in Dartford costs on average between £1000 – £1500, and Botox starts at £245. We have a range of finance options available to make treatments more affordable.
Botox, although popular at our clinic in Dartford, it does not offer the same results as the 8-point facelift. Botox can make natural facial expressions difficult after treatment, thanks to the nerve-blocking aspect of the injections. Using dermal fillers in the 8-point facial provides a more natural result, allowing patients to retain natural facial movements.
Are There Other Treatments To Consider?
If you’re investigating all the treatments that can help you look younger, then there are a few more you can look at.
Microneedling
Microneedling using Derma FNS Therapy provides advanced micro-medical skin needling, a procedure that stimulates the production of collagen to regenerate and repair your skin naturally and safely and is an effective way to create smoother, brighter, healthier, and younger-looking skin with virtually no downtime.
Exilis
Exilis is a skin-tightening treatment that uses a radiofrequency device to help tighten the skin by triggering the process of collagen production. The application of radiofrequency waves to the treatment area gently heats tissues deep beneath the skin’s surface, triggering the renewed production of your body’s natural collagen. Exilis helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and strengthens the skin, causing it to look tighter, firmer, and more healthy and youthful.
Vampire Facelift
The vampire facelift stimulates the natural collagen and elastin production in your skin by using both microneedling combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.
