Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections – Everything You Need To Know
Fat dissolving injections sound too good to be true, don’t they? But they’re not! If, despite healthy eating and regular exercise, you still struggle with stubborn areas of fat, then Aqualyx fat dissolving injections can be what you need to achieve your ideal figure.
In this tell-all blog, we look in detail at what fat dissolving injections are, how they feel and most importantly – if they really work.
What Are Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections?
Fat dissolving injections are a non-surgical method of dispersing excess fat cells. Until recently, the only option for getting rid of hard-to-shift fat was to undergo liposuction, a painful and invasive surgery that carries a higher risk of complications.
Thankfully, the development of fat dissolving injections means that you can refine your figure without the need for surgery and long recovery times.
The injections are made from a plant compound solution that features deoxycholic acid, a bile acid that plays an essential role in fat digestion. When injected, the treatment destabilises your fat cells by destroying the fat cell membranes. This causes them to liquefy, where they are removed by your lymphatic system.
Where Can Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections Treat?
Fat dissolving injections work best on small areas that ‘hold on’ to pockets of fat. The most successfully treated areas include;
Excess fat under your chin can change the appearance of your whole face. Often called a ‘double chin’ the fat that collects here can be very hard to lose, even with diet and exercise.
Many people carry a little additional padding around their middle. The fat can collect in a ‘pouch’ that makes fitting in your clothes uncomfortable and can hinder your exercise effort.
‘Saddlebags’ are pockets of fat that sit on the outside of your thighs. Though calorie-rich diets can lead to saddlebags, they are also linked to the hormone estrogen, so even with a balanced diet, you can still struggle with extra fat on your legs.
Your upper arms can carry fat, and that can jiggle when you lift your arms, wave or move around. Sometimes called ‘bingo wings’, these fatty deposits can make you feel more self-conscious when wearing short sleeves.
While these are the most commonly addressed areas, it’s not an exhaustive list. Aqualyx fat dissolving injections are incredibly effective at reducing fat cells in a focused zone – so if you have concerns about another area, such as the buttocks, hips or back, then be assured, the injections can help!
As you can see from these before and after photos below, the areas treated are varied and the difference is noticeable.
Are Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections Safe?
Fat dissolving injections are perfectly safe for the majority of patients when administered by qualified professionals like us at Elite Aesthetics. Because the solution kickstarts a natural process, you are unlikely to suffer unexpected side effects.
What Can I Expect From The Procedure?
The procedure is very simple; following your consultation, you will visit the clinic for your fat dissolving injections. The Aqualyx is administered alongside an anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort, as the solution is injected fairly deeply into the fat pocket. Depending on the size of the area you’re treating, your appointment should take between 30 minutes to an hour (Aqualyx has been called the ‘lunchtime lipo’!).
You may experience a little sensitivity and redness at the injection site, but this will pass in a couple of hours. In the days after your treatment, you will find that the area will swell a little – this is an important part of the fat dissolving process. The fat cells are being broken down, and your body responds by sending white blood cells to get rid of the debris. This should last a couple of days, and as that subsides you will start to see your new, more contoured figure.
How Much Do Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections Cost?
Aqualyx is a very affordable treatment, particularly when you consider the outcome is the same as liposuction – and that can cost up to £6000! Fat dissolving injections are often given over a course of treatment, so the cost does depend on how many sessions you have. As a guide, a single treatment of Aqualyx usually costs £350, with a course of 3 sessions usually being optimal.
How Long Do Results Last?
The fat cells are permanently removed, but it’s important to note that these cells can regenerate if a regime of good diet and exercise isn’t followed.
We recommend a course of treatment for a more effective result, depending on which area you are having treated and your desired outcome. Dr Shirin will be able to advise you on this during your consultation.
Will Fat Dissolving Injections Help Me Lose Weight?
While fat dissolving injections do help you to shed excess fat, they are not suitable as a weight loss plan. Although the injections rid your body of fat cells, it’s done to contour or shape the area rather than as a weight management tool.
