Erection issues, often known as erectile dysfunction or ED, are frequent among diabetic males. Those with type 2 diabetes, in particular. Long-term high blood sugar levels might harm the neurons and blood vessels. This injury makes it difficult to obtain or maintain a firm adequate erection for sex.

High blood pressure and heart problems can also cause erectile dysfunction. These symptoms are frequent in diabetic men. Although age can play a role in ED, erectile dysfunction is more common in diabetic males. Men may experience erectile problems before being diagnosed with diabetes or heart disease.

Living with erectile dysfunction can be quite difficult. You and your partner may be disappointed. However, you can deal with ED. Take the necessary actions to re-establish your sexual life.

Consult an expert

Many men are reluctant to discuss erectile problems. Even to a medical professional. But don’t be ashamed. Seek assistance. A simple discussion can have a significant impact. Here’s what you should do:

  • Enform your doctor about the situation. Your provider will consider your entire health picture. You may gain knowledge about the health conditions, testosterone levels, or drugs that are causing your erectile dysfunction. A provider will provide you with treatment information and suggestions. Find out what your alternatives are.
  • Enquire about how you might improve your diabetes management. Improved blood sugar levels can aid in the protection of your nerves and blood vessels. When they are destroyed, they induce erectile dysfunction. You’ll feel better overall, and your quality of life will increase. Enquire with your doctor if you’re taking the proper actions to manage your diabetes.
  • Enquire about other health concerns. Diabetes is frequently co-occurring with other chronic illnesses in men. Some may induce or aggravate erectile dysfunction. Keep track of other health conditions with your provider.
  • Examine your medications. Enquire with your doctor about your medications. They could be the source of your erectile dysfunction. Some medications, such as those used to treat depression or high blood pressure, have been linked to ED. Changing your medications may be beneficial.
  • Seek professional help. Anxiety and stress can aggravate erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction can put both you and your companion under stress. A psychologist, counsellor, or other mental health specialist can assist you and your spouse in dealing with the situation.

Think about your therapy treatments

There are numerous approaches to treating erectile dysfunction. Enquire with your provider if any of the following choices could be suitable for you:

Oral medications

Sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis, Adcirca), vardenafil, or avanafil (Stendra) are erectile dysfunction medications. Oral medications are pills that are taken orally. These pills can improve blood flow to your penis, making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection. Consult your doctor to see whether any of these medications are appropriate for you.

Other medications

If pills aren’t an option for you, your doctor may offer a little suppository. Before sex, inject this into the tip of your penis. Another option is to inject drugs into the base or side of your penis. These pharmaceuticals, like oral medications, improve blood flow, which aids in obtaining and maintaining an erection.

Erection gadget with a vacuum

This gadget, sometimes known as a penis pump or a vacuum pump, is a hollow tube that you place over your penis. It works by drawing blood into your penis with a pump to produce an erection.

The tube is then withdrawn, and a band is inserted at the base of the penis to maintain the erection. This battery- or hand-powered device is simple to use and poses little risk.

If a penis pump is a good option for you, your provider may recommend a specific model. That way, you can be certain that it meets your requirements and is well-made.

P Shot for Diabetes

This unique treatment uses your own stem cells to regenerate your nerves and tissues.

Penile Implants

If medications or a penile pump are ineffective, a surgical implant may be an alternative. For many men suffering from erectile dysfunction, semirigid or inflatable penile implants are a safe and effective choice.
Make wise lifestyle decisions.

A few modifications can make a significant difference in your health. Try the following suggestions to enhance your overall health and your ED:

Quit smoking.

Tobacco usage, including smoking, causes blood arteries to constrict. As a result, less blood may reach your penis. Furthermore, smoking reduces nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide tells your body that blood should flow to your penis. When there is less nitric oxide, there is less blood flow. Erectile dysfunction can be caused or exacerbated by decreased blood flow.

Don’t give up if you’ve tried and failed to quit on your own. Request assistance. There are numerous methods available to assist you with quitting, including medicine.

Consider what you consume.

There is no one-size-fits-all food regimen for diabetics. However, a provider can supply the proper balance of carbs, protein, and fat for your health. They can also advise you on which foods are best for you.

Reduce extra weight.

Obesity can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction.
Get your feet moving. Other disorders that might cause erectile dysfunction can be helped by exercise. It increases blood flow while decreasing stress and weight. Begin where you are. A provider can assist you in developing a strategy that is appropriate for your ability.

Stop or reduce your drinking.

Alcohol can have an effect on erectile dysfunction. If you choose to consume alcohol, moderation is essential. For healthy people, that means no more than one drink per day for men over the age of 65. Or, for men aged 65 and younger, up to two drinks each day.
Mayo Clinic provides erectile dysfunction treatment.

Our compassionate doctors can assist you with your health challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Oral medications typically work about 50 percent of the time for men with diabetes. Penile pumps are also good options, if medications don’t work. Other men may choose injection therapy, which is a treatment where you inject the penis with a small needle when you want an erection.

For a longer term solution, you could consider the P Shot for Diabetes.

Erectile Dysfunction with Diabetes

Men with diabetes are 3x more likely to have trouble getting or keeping an erection. There can be several reasons for this, such as limited blood flow, nerve damage (neuropathy) and damaged blood vessels. It can also be down to medication or just how you’re feeling at the time.

Can erectile dysfunction due to diabetes be cured?

Erectile dysfunction is common in people with diabetes. But fortunately, it’s almost always treatable. Medications can help, but they work best combined with lifestyle changes and diabetes management. This could mean improving your blood sugar levels, weight and overall mental and physical health.

How to reverse erectile dysfunction caused by diabetes naturally?
  1. Increasing physical activity.
  2. Lose weight.
  3. Find and use stress management techniques (such as developing a hobby, etc.)
  4. Stop smoking if you smoke.
  5. Limit or eliminate alcohol.
  6. Physical therapy to strengthen the pelvic muscles.
  7. Try the Priapus Shot for Diabetes
Does type 1 diabetes cause erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, is a problem for some men, but it is more common in men with type 1 diabetes. You may experience short-term episodes of impotence, but for about one in 10 men the problem may continue. You may also experience problems with their libido.

Erectile Dysfunction for Diabetes Type 2

Erection problems, also called erectile dysfunction or ED, are common in men with diabetes. Especially those with type 2 diabetes. High blood sugar over a long period of time can damage the nerves and blood vessels. This damage causes problems with getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex.

Can Diabetics Take Viagra?

You can take Viagra or other erectile dysfunction medicines when you are diabetic.

Diabetes and Erectile Dysfunction NHS Support

Whilst the NHS has support for those with erectile dysfunction related to diabetes, the support is varied depending upon your hospital and GP. Injections to help with erections are usually limited to a few per month, typically 5. Limiting the number of injections has an obvious and significant impact upon individuals, both in their sexual relationships and also on their mental health.

Read How I Improved My Lichen Sclerosus

Had a consultation with Elite yesterday, I must say I was a bit nervous, but Dr Shirin was so friendly and helpful.
I was given lots of advice and was given treatment options that were within my budget.
A few weeks after the P Shot I've really started to see a difference and have gained my confidence back.

Thank You!

Elite is an outstanding professional clinic with high standard treatments. All the staff members are friendly and offer you honest opinions when it comes to products and treatments. This is a welcoming clinic that I can 100% recommend. Treatments are spoken through and explained in detail, also aftercare. I have been going nearly a year now and am happy with all the treatments I’ve had, wouldn't go anywhere else. The Bocox treatment started to work within a few days, which I was surprised about. So glad I went to Elite for treatment.

HV

Thank you Dr Shirin, the O Shot has really helped me with my Lichen Sclerosus. I'd heard about the treatment on the LS Facebook Groups and message a few people that had treatment with Dr Shirin. I was like many in the group who had run out of treatment options and using creams on a daily basis. I have to say a few months after treatment, I can see a real positive change and I'm hoping my LS will continue to improve. Dr Shirin did say that I might have to have a second treatment given how severe my case is.

Hi, Alex here,Just had my Lichen treatment today with Dr Shirin,The whole team at elite are very friendly, comforting and understanding, and did everything they could to give me a wonderful and welcoming experience. They are all so kind, friendly and knowledgeable, world experts at what they do. I am lucky to have them near London. They are also super responsive on the phone and email, so I know they care about thier patients, and I'm very well taken care of, (as with other clinics I have been to, its often difficult to get them to respond to questions), but this clinic is the most responsive I have ever seen! This is a beautiful and wonderful place and I highly recommend it, and I will be recommending it to all my friends as well. They definitely deserve the super high reviews they are getting, so I'm happy to add another one! A Big thank you from me and my family for all you have done for us during this journey!

Yesterday I had a 'body sculpt' session, to help lymphatic drainage. I was zipped into a suit up to my waist. This massaged and lightly squeezed my feet, ankles, calves, thighs and abdomen. I was breathing oxygen rich air via nasal tubes. It was very relaxing and I slept really well last night. Thank you Elite Aesthetics.
