Excessive Sweating Therapy

Could Botox Be The Answer To Your Sweat Problem?

Excessive Sweating can be embarrassing and frustrating. If you’re struggling with sweaty hands, feet, armpits or even your whole body, then excessive sweating therapy could be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Most people sweat when they’re hot, when they exercise or if they throw a fever – this is totally normal and a good deodorant can usually keep things under control. But for a few people, sweating can be a real problem. Around 1-2% of people experience something called hyperhidrosis – also known as excessive sweating.

For these people, sweating becomes so frequent and profuse that it starts to impact their everyday lives, preventing them from participating in social events, sports or even everyday activities such as driving. It can be very embarrassing and in some cases, it can even lead to mental health problems such as depression.

But there is a solution. If you’re suffering from hyperhidrosis then excessive sweating therapy could be the solution you’ve been searching for.

Hyperhidrosis Hands

What Causes Excessive Sweating?

First, let’s look at what causes excessive sweating. Sweat has a very useful function. It’s your body’s way of controlling your temperature when it gets too high, and also excreting toxins.

For most people, the body’s sweat glands only become activated when their temperature rises, but for people with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive. This means they send the signal to the sweat glands even when the body is a normal temperature.

There are two types of hyperhidrosis: symmetrical hyperhidrosis and generalised hyperhidrosis.

Symmetrical hyperhidrosis is localised, meaning it usually only affects certain areas on the body, such as the armpits, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, face, chest or groin. The cause of this type of hyperhidrosis is unknown, however, it usually begins in childhood or adolescence and can improve with age.

Instead of just affecting certain areas, generalised hyperhidrosis affects the whole body. It can be triggered by illness, infections, certain medications or hormonal conditions, such as the menopause, diabetes or thyroid conditions.

How Much Is Too Much?

Everyone sweats. That’s a fact. But how do you know if your sweating is excessive or just a normal bodily function?

When it comes to sweating, the simplest way to decide if it’s excessive is if it interferes with your daily life in any way. If your sweat is making you feel embarrassed, uncomfortable or you find you’re becoming less likely to participate in social events because of your sweating, then it’s a good indicator that your sweating is excessive. For some people it can be so extreme that it interferes with normal daily tasks such as driving, holding tools or using a computer keyboard and mouse.

If you feel any of this applies to you then it could be time to start looking at excessive sweating therapy.

How Excessive Sweating Therapy Works

Excessive sweating therapy is a great way to reduce embarrassing sweating and get your hyperhidrosis under control. Using medical Botox we can prevent your overactive nerves from sending the signal to your sweat glands, reducing sweat production and giving you your confidence and your life back.

You’ve probably heard of Botox (botulinum toxin) for its antiwrinkle properties, however, it does have medical uses too.

When used for excessive sweating therapy, Botox works by blocking nerve signals from the brain to the sweat glands. This prevents the sweat glands from over-producing sweat, significantly reducing your symptoms.

Is Medical Botox Dangerous?

Botox is an FDA approved treatment that’s been used for both medical and cosmetic purposes for nearly 30 years.

Although Botox is made from botulinum toxin, small doses, such as those used in the application of Botox, are considered safe. In fact, since licensing in 1989 fewer than 20 adverse reactions have been reported to the FDA, suggesting that it’s incredibly safe when used correctly.

Choosing a reputable, experienced and professional Botox practitioner, such as a medically trained aesthetic doctor, will help ensure a safe treatment and positive outcome from your procedure.

What To Expect From A Treatment Session

During an excessive sweating therapy session, your aesthetician will first apply a numbing cream, before marking the areas of the body they intend to treat. Once the numbing cream has had time to take effect they will then inject the Botox

The number of injections required will vary depending on the area or areas of the body that you want to treat, but you should expect something around 20 injections. This should be discussed with you before the treatment, so you know exactly what to expect.

The whole procedure should take around 30-45 (this includes 25 minutes numbing time) minutes in total and there’s no recovery period required so you can continue with your normal daily routine right away.

Most people say they experience some mild discomfort while the injections are administered, but that overall the treatment is not an unpleasant experience.

How Quickly Does It Work & How Long Does It Last?

The results are pretty quick, with most people noticing a difference in just 7-14 days, but it can take up to 2 weeks before your sweating stops altogether and you experience complete dryness.

While it’s not a permanent solution, excessive sweating therapy is fairly long-lasting. You can expect your sweating to remain under control for several months, after which time you can repeat the treatment to extend the results and keep your sweating under control.

How Do I Know If It Will Work For Me?

The only way to truly discover if excessive sweating therapy is the right solution for you is to have a consultation with a professional, qualified aesthetic doctor. They’ll help you to understand your condition and give you all the information you need to make the right treatment choice for you.

Had a consultation with Elite yesterday, I must say I was a bit nervous, but Dr Shirin was so friendly and helpful.
I was given lots of advice and was given treatment options that were within my budget.
A few weeks after the P Shot I've really started to see a difference and have gained my confidence back.

Thank You!

Elite is an outstanding professional clinic with high standard treatments. All the staff members are friendly and offer you honest opinions when it comes to products and treatments. This is a welcoming clinic that I can 100% recommend. Treatments are spoken through and explained in detail, also aftercare. I have been going nearly a year now and am happy with all the treatments I’ve had, wouldn't go anywhere else. The Bocox treatment started to work within a few days, which I was surprised about. So glad I went to Elite for treatment.

Thank you Dr Shirin, the O Shot has really helped me with my Lichen Sclerosus. I'd heard about the treatment on the LS Facebook Groups and message a few people that had treatment with Dr Shirin. I was like many in the group who had run out of treatment options and using creams on a daily basis. I have to say a few months after treatment, I can see a real positive change and I'm hoping my LS will continue to improve. Dr Shirin did say that I might have to have a second treatment given how severe my case is.

Hi, Alex here,Just had my Lichen treatment today with Dr Shirin,The whole team at elite are very friendly, comforting and understanding, and did everything they could to give me a wonderful and welcoming experience. They are all so kind, friendly and knowledgeable, world experts at what they do. I am lucky to have them near London. They are also super responsive on the phone and email, so I know they care about thier patients, and I'm very well taken care of, (as with other clinics I have been to, its often difficult to get them to respond to questions), but this clinic is the most responsive I have ever seen! This is a beautiful and wonderful place and I highly recommend it, and I will be recommending it to all my friends as well. They definitely deserve the super high reviews they are getting, so I'm happy to add another one! A Big thank you from me and my family for all you have done for us during this journey!

Yesterday I had a 'body sculpt' session, to help lymphatic drainage. I was zipped into a suit up to my waist. This massaged and lightly squeezed my feet, ankles, calves, thighs and abdomen. I was breathing oxygen rich air via nasal tubes. It was very relaxing and I slept really well last night. Thank you Elite Aesthetics.
