Injections For Weight Loss – Do They Work?
Injections for weight loss sound too good to be true, right? A simple solution that can help you achieve a healthy weight without taking unnecessary risks.
The good news is that it’s not too good to be true – at Elite Aesthetics, we’re delighted to be able to help men and women overcome their weight loss barriers. The injections for weight loss have a proven track record in helping you to achieve your weight loss goals.
So, What Are Injections For Weight Loss?
Injections for weight loss are made from Liraglutide, a synthetic form of the hormone GLP-1. Originally developed to manage type 2 diabetes, it was noted that users were also experiencing weight loss as an effect.
It’s thought that your brain has receptors within the hypothalamus (the appetite centre) that responds to GLP-1, making it send signals that make you feel full. So this simple, daily injection will help you manage mealtimes making your weight loss journey more comfortable and achievable.
Each injection for weight loss comes in a pre-filled ‘pen’ which you can use at any time of day. You will be fully guided in the process of injecting yourself, with on-hand help should you require it.
What Makes You Gain Weight?
Weight gain has a stigma that makes those that find it hard to lose weight feel self-conscious, anxious and frustrated. There’s a perception that it can be related to poor diet and infrequent exercise, and while these things certainly don’t help, there are plenty of other reasons for stubborn weight.
Ageing
As you age, various factors change the shape and function of your body. Lean muscle, for example, starts to decline once you hit 30. Lean muscle uses more calories than fat, so as it drops you can put weight on if you don’t adjust your calorie intake to match.
Add in the changes in your hormones around middle-age, and you can find yourself snug in your waistband. Both the decrease in testosterone in men and oestrogen in women causes your body to manage fat distribution differently leading to fat ‘pouches’ in the abdominal area.
Stress
You may have heard of the term ‘stress-eating’, which refers to the link between feeling anxious or under pressure and frequent snacking. But stress weight gain is more than mismanaging your food intake – it has an actual physical effect on your body. It’s the ‘fight or flight’ response, and it affects a large portion of the population.
When you have prolonged or chronic stress, your cortisol levels become elevated which leads to an increase in appetite, particularly displaying as a craving for sugary foods that give quick energy bursts.
Genetics
Your DNA may play a role in your weight gain. It’s thought that a large percentage of people have a predisposition to obesity (thanks to an evolutionary adaptation that allowed humans to survive famine). Not everyone is affected by it, but for some, the ability to lose weight with sheer willpower is much harder.
Sedentary Lifestyles
Modern lifestyles mean that as a population, people have less opportunity to get the exercise they need. Long days sat at a PC, long commutes and relaxation time in front of the TV or games console means that you’re not burning off calories in the most effective way.
Do Injections For Weight Loss Work?
For most people, the key question is ‘do injections for weight loss actually work’? And the answer is yes.
There is strong clinical evidence that the injections helped people to achieve and maintain a healthy weight over those that were given a placebo. The injection works best when used alongside a balanced diet and regular exercise, since suppressing your appetite is only part of the equation.
Patients have cited injections for weight loss as the catalyst for a change in their lifestyle, saying that it was the kickstart they needed to adjust their diet and exercise regime.
Long-lasting results happen when there’s a change in your eating and movement habits, so ensuring that you get a good balance of these will help you achieve and maintain your desired weight.
What Are The Benefits of Injections For Weight Loss?
Aside from the obvious, there are benefits to injections for weight loss that can help you feel healthier and more lively.
Reduces high cholesterol
Trials revealed that injections for weight loss also helped to reduce high cholesterol.
Motivates a lifestyle change
You may have joined a gym, tried weight loss clubs and diets, but found that sticking to it is hard. Injections for weight loss can give you the motivation to keep to a calorie controlled diet and exercise plan. By finding a routine and food that work for you, you’re highly likely to maintain a healthy weight, even after you stop the injections for weight loss!

Are There Any Side Effects From The Injections For Weight Loss?
As with many medications, some people find they have side effects. The most common side effect is an upset stomach, nausea and sometimes vomiting, however many patients find this subsides after a period of adjustment to the injections. If you do suffer from this, make sure you drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.
If you have any serious side effects such as palpitations, severe mood changes or an allergic reaction you must seek urgent medical help. Dr Shirin will discuss this in detail during your consultation so you will have a thorough understanding of the injections.
