Nose Thread Lift: Everything You Need To Know
Is there really a nose job you can have in your lunchtime? Surprisingly, the answer is yes. The nose thread lift is a treatment that has made what historically has been an expensive and painful procedure more accessible and affordable.
Your nose is the most defining characteristic of your face and when you feel unhappy with its shape, it can have a big impact on your confidence and self-image. Until recently there have been limited options available for changing your nose shape; rhinoplasty is an invasive and intense surgery that requires significant downtime.
But what about a thread lift for your nose? If you have considered rhinoplasty or nose surgery, then you will want to find out about this minimally invasive procedure. Read on to find out everything you ever need to know about it…
What Is The Nose Thread Lift?
The nose thread lift is derived from the thread lift procedure. The thread lift is one of our most popular treatments due to its natural yet significant results. Most commonly used as an anti-ageing solution, tiny threads are threaded under the skin adding a firm structure that smooths and lifts sagging skin. The threads are absorbed by your body after about 12 months, and as they dissolve, they stimulate collagen production.
This non-surgical treatment uses specialised threads designed for noses, called the MINT Tip Thread, to reshape and contour your nose. Leaving you with the nose you’ve always wanted – without the risk that general anaesthetic and surgery pose.
What Can A Nose Thread Lift Do?
The nose thread lift or lunchtime nose job was first developed 15 years ago but has seen a surge in popularity over recent years. This exciting technique can help address many cosmetic concerns you may have with your nose.
Lift Nose Bridge
You may want a more defined nose with a higher nose bridge. A nose thread lift can help to enhance your nasal profile by lifting the tissue to give a more prominent bridge.
Nose Tip Lift
One of the most frequently requested treatments is the lifting of the nose tip. A downward-pointing nose tip can make your nose appear longer, changing the proportions of your face.
A drooping nose tip can be an effect of ageing. The supporting ligaments between the cartilage can start to weaken and the tip of the nose begins to drop.
A thread lift will replace the lost support to the tip of your nose, lifting it to make it appear shorter and more youthful.
Nose Slimming
While the thread lift can’t alter the width of your nose, it can be made to look slimmer by lifting your nose bridge. During your consultation, we will discuss your desired outcome which will help to determine the number of threads to be used during your treatment.
Nose Ridge Refining
If you have a crooked nose or a bump in your nose, a thread lift can help to reshape the tissue to make your nose straighter. Threads are inserted vertically and act like ‘scaffolding’ by lifting the surrounding tissue to blend any bumps.
How Long Does It Last?
The threads are designed to be absorbed by your body. This takes around 18 months, although the effects of your nose thread lift may last much longer thanks to the collagen stimulation they provide.
Your body responds to the threads by creating fibroblasts – the cells responsible for the production of collagen at a wound site. Over time, this collagen helps to plump and firm the area around the threads helping to maintain the new shape created by the nose thread lift.
What Is The Downtime?
There is very little downtime following your procedure. Physically you will be able to carry on with your day-to-day living but there are some things you’ll need to be mindful of;
- You will need to avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours
- Do not touch the area around your nose thread lift. Facials and facial massage should be avoided for 10 days following treatment.
- Don’t apply make-up to the area for at least 12 hours to give your skin time to settle.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for 7 days as these can inhibit your skin’s healing response.
- Avoid direct sunlight and always wear an SPF 30.
What Are The Limitations Of A Nose Thread Lift?
The nose thread lift won’t change the structure of the cartilage so if you would like a significant reduction in the size of your nose, the nose thread lift isn’t the right choice for you.
It also can’t help with breathing issues as the threads don’t widen the nasal passages. If you are having problems with your breathing, it’s best to consult your GP to identify an appropriate course of action.

Is It Painful?
Most patients say the only discomfort comes from the local anaesthetic when it is injected. The actual thread lift procedure is painless and very quick.
You may find that you have some swelling and bruising following your treatment, but this will subside quickly. You may want to have a rest day following treatment to allow your body to relax and heal, but it’s not necessary – many patients head back to work or carry on with their usual activity right away.
