1. Moisturise after showering
Warm showers strip the skin of essential oils. Keep body lotion right in the shower and apply while your skin is wet. “If you wait”, says Dr Shirin, “skin starts to lose water vapour. Remember to choose a body lotion with a flip top as pump bottles allow water in which can lead to bacteria.”
2. Take off your makeup at night
It’s absolutely vital to take off your makeup before bed – no matter how tired you may feel. “Makeup can trap skin oils and dirt which in turn leads to spots. Cosmetics can also trap skin-damaging free radicals which float in the air (such as pollution) against your skin.” A tip that Dr Shirin gives is to take your makeup off as soon as you get home in the evening. “Don’t leave your skincare routine until the final credits of the film at 11pm when you’re tired. Take off your makeup as soon as you get home so that you don’t forget before bed and you give your skin extra time to breathe.”
3. Eat well
Better skin starts within! A diet rich in anti-oxidants has a protective effect on the skin while a diet high in processed food and refined carbohydrates promotes skin aging. 4. Clean Your Makeup Brushes
