The Non-Surgical Breast Lift: An Alternative To Surgery?
Since 2000, breast lift surgery has increased by 70%. Breast implants have always been popular and are still by far the most performed cosmetic surgery in women. However, for many women, surgery is too extreme.
Surgical breast implants and breast lift procedures can have complications, such as making it difficult to breastfeed in the future. Implants also need to be replaced after around 10 years, or sooner in some cases.
That’s why the non-surgical breast lift is growing in popularity. It doesn’t involve invasive surgery and can offer women a more subtle and natural look.
What Is A Non-Surgical Breast Lift?
The non-surgical breast lift is also known as the vampire breast lift. The treatment uses platelet-rich plasma to improve the overall look of your breasts whilst making them look fuller.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains essential cell-regenerating growth factors that can be used to stimulate the growth of new, younger tissue and increase blood flow.
PRP procedures work by taking a blood sample, which is then spun at a high frequency within a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The extracted PRP is then injected into your breasts.
Injecting PRP improves skin texture and stimulates new cell growth, making your breasts appear fuller.
It is quick, painless, and does not require any downtime afterwards. The whole procedure usually takes an hour, with a lot of this time being used to spin your blood in the centrifuge.
The non-surgical breast lift stimulates new collagen, elastin, fibrin, and adipose (fat) tissue development. It is this new tissue stimulation that creates an increase in your breast size and makes them look fuller. The increase in collagen also reduces wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars.
What Can A Non-Surgical Breast Lift Do?
The non-surgical breast lift can help with the following areas:
- Sensitivity – Especially the nipple area, which can often decrease significantly after breastfeeding.
- Inverted Nipples – PRP encourages your body to create new nipple tissue, including collagen for volume, fatty tissue for smoothness, and new blood vessels, all of which can help with inverted nipples.
- Better Cleavage – The non-surgical breast lift creates a more rounded cleavage, giving them a firmer, perkier appearance.
- Reduces Stretch Marks – The new collagen production helps to tighten skin and fill in wrinkles and stretch marks. It can also smooth scars and shrink pores.
- Restore Lost Volume – A Vampire Breast Lift cannot create new volume, but it can help to restore lost volume in the breast tissue. Especially helpful for women who have noticed a reduction in volume following pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How Does It Compare To A Surgical Breast Lift?
Subtle non-surgical results are growing in demand because they’re so natural looking.
Here’s how they compare:
Preparation
Before a surgical breast lift, your doctor might ask you to lose weight or make lifestyle changes to ensure the best results. It is not advised to smoke before or after the procedure because it promotes better healing. You will also be asked to avoid taking aspirin, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, and some herbal medications that can cause increased bleeding.
Before the non-surgical breast lift, you should stop taking blood-thinning medications or any supplements. Eat enough so that you do not experience lightheadedness during the procedure. Remove any piercings from around the breasts or nipples.
Procedure
A surgical breast lift is done under general anaesthetic and usually takes between 1-2 hours. Your surgeon will usually cut the line of the areola (the dark area around the nipple) and a vertical cut underneath your areola. They will remove excess skin, reshape your breast tissue, and reposition the nipple to a perkier, more lifted position.
Before the non-surgical breast lift, your doctor will take a blood sample, which is then spun in a centrifuge to extract the vital PRP needed for the procedure. A numbing cream is applied and then your doctor will inject the PRP into different areas of the breast.
The procedure takes about an hour, including the blood sample and PRP extraction.
Downtime
With a surgical breast lift, you will be out of bed on the same day as your surgery and can do light activities after two weeks. You should be back to normal exercise in six weeks, but most patients take at least two weeks off work after the operation, depending on their job.
There is no downtime with the non-surgical breast lift.
Recovery
You should allow at least 6 weeks post-surgery for your recovery after a surgical breast lift. You might not be cleared for more strenuous activities, such as lifting, exercising, and having sex, for up to six weeks. Your doctor will have to discuss this with you. It can be very uncomfortable to wear a bra afterwards, and it usually takes about 8 weeks post-surgery to wear one comfortably.
After the PRP breast lift, you might experience slight swelling and bruising, but this usually clears up within 1-2 weeks. You’ll be able to return to your usual strenuous activities and wear your normal bras pain-free immediately after the treatment.
Risks
Surgical breast lifts carry more risk because it is a surgical procedure. You could react to the anaesthetic or experience complications during the procedure. You run a high risk of scarring, experiencing changes to nipple and breast sensation, and having trouble breastfeeding in the future.
There are no risks associated with the non-surgical breast lift, and because it uses your blood to enhance your body’s own healing and growth abilities, there are no side effects either.
Longevity
A surgical breast lift can last for up to 15 years for some women; others may seek minor cosmetic alterations sooner. If you’ve had implants, they may need to be replaced after 10 years.
The non-surgical breast lift is not permanent but can last for up to 2 years.
Non-Surgical Breast Lift FAQs
Here, we answer the most asked questions about the non-surgical breast lift.
Does it hurt?
No! Numbing cream is applied to your breast so that minimal discomfort is felt.
When will I see a difference?
You should expect to see your results within 2 months. Your breasts subtly change because the PRP encourages your body to produce more collagen. The effects will naturally start to wear off after 12-24 months
What does it cost?
The non-surgical breast lift costs around £1350, which, compared to surgery, which can cost up to over £6,000, is far more affordable.
