A vampire facial lift might sound like something from a horror film, but it’s actually a wonderfully effective anti-ageing treatment.

It’s a non-surgical treatment, made famous by several celebrities – most notably Kim Kardashian. It is designed to combat common signs of ageing, renew your skin and restore your youthful glow.

What Is A Vampire Facial Lift?

A vampire facial stimulates natural collagen and elastin production in your skin through a combination of microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Collagen and elastin help to rejuvenate and maintain your skin’s youthful appearance; and as you age, your natural collagen stores start to deplete. When these stores deplete, you start to notice wrinkles, sagging skin, and hollowing around your eyes and face. 

Collagen is a protein that provides structure, support, and strength to your skin, muscles, bones, and connective tissues. Collagen is essential to restore and regenerate your skin and increase the plumpness of your face.  

Elastin makes your skin stretchy but starts to become lax when you get older. A vampire facial lift kick starts your body’s production, so your skin looks plump and smooth.

How Does The Vampire Facial Lift Work?

This treatment is scientifically proven to reduce the signs of ageing, and how it does this is incredibly clever! The vampire facial lift uses plasma extracted from a sample of your blood to stimulate your body’s collagen and elastin production.

Your doctor will take a small blood sample, just like you would at a normal blood test. Your sample is then spun at high speed in a centrifuge. This is to separate your blood cells so that the plasma can be extracted. 

Next comes the microneedling. 

Microneedling is a treatment that involves poking your skin with tiny needles to create ‘micro-injuries.’ These little injuries trigger your body’s wound-healing process to encourage new collagen production. 

For the vampire facial lift, minuscule pinpricks will be made all over the area you’d like treated. It might seem counterintuitive to cause injury to a place you want to look plumper – but the science behind it will help to explain.

Your body’s response to injury is to send lots of collagen-producing fibroblasts to the area, and as your skin heals, it does so with new collagen and elastin making its appearance much more smooth, toned and plump.

In a vampire facial lift, following the use of a microneedling device, your PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is applied all over the target area. The plasma delivers a high volume of growth factors that enhance the healing process, increasing skin elasticity, volume, and smoothness.

What Can A Vampire Facial Lift Treat?

A vampire facial lift boosts collagen production for tighter, smoother, younger-looking skin. It can be used to treat the following:

  • Smooth out scars – it is particularly effective with acne scars
  • Smooth wrinkles and fine lines – the treatment encourages cell turnover, increasing collagen and elastin production, making your skin look smoother, tighter, and fuller.
  • Alleviate rosacea – for rosacea sufferers, this is usually worse on your facial skin. The PRP enables your skin to rejuvenate and repair itself, soothing the rosacea symptoms.

No, it’s totally painless. The needles are medical grade and tiny; they only penetrate to a depth of 0.5mm – 1mm.

Before your treatment, your aesthetic practitioner will use a numbing cream to ensure that you’re relaxed throughout. Most people describe it as pain-free and comfortable, and your skin should be fully healed within one week.

How Long Will The Results Last?

Results aren’t permanent, but they should last for 6-12 months. A vampire facial lift is an investment in your skin, but it’s not an immediate fix. 

You are essentially tricking your body into speeding up its natural regenerative process, and this can take a bit of time to see the results. 

That being said, you should be able to see the glow and evenness from the PRP after 2 -3 weeks.
