What Is Body Contouring?
Body contouring has seen a surge in popularity over the past decade, with fat reducing treatments becoming some of the most sought-after in aesthetic clinics across not just the UK, but the whole world.
Standalone fat reduction solutions have been proven to be incredibly successful in treating pockets of fat in a single area. So when a combination of treatments is used to contour and reshape your whole body, it’s no surprise that the outcome is transformative.
The combining of different fat-dissolving treatments has had a powerful effect on those that have struggled with bulges, despite exercise and healthy eating. Now, you have the ability to refine and tone your figure in a way that was previously only possible with surgery.
But how does body contouring work and what can it do?
Body Contouring: An Overview
If you have stubborn areas of fat that stays put, no matter how much you exercise, then you’ll know just how distressing and frustrating it can be. Until recently, there have been fairly limited options to remove this fat, with liposuction as the number 1 choice.
Liposuction has been used for decades to, quite literally, suction out fat accumulation but it can have a long recovery, and like any surgery, it carries the risk of infection and adverse reaction to the anesthetic used.
But now the cosmetic industry has non-surgical options that achieve the same result and this has made body contouring not only a lower-risk procedure but also more affordable.
How Does Non-Surgical Body Contouring Work?
Non-surgical body contouring uses a variety of non-surgical techniques to destroy fat cells, which allows your physique to become more streamlined. These techniques use either heat or cold to instigate the destruction of fat cells, which are then disposed of through your body’s lymphatic system.
Body contouring takes a whole-body approach, allowing you to target multiple areas to achieve the figure you have been working towards. Your treatment is tailored to suit you and your goals which will be discussed during your initial consultation. Here, you can outline what you want to achieve so your treatment can be designed to deliver the best results.
Although your body contouring treatment is personalised, there are common areas that we are often asked to target. These include;
- Upper arms
- Back
- Thighs
- Buttocks
- Hips
- Abdomen
What Body Contouring Treatments Are Available?
At Elite Aesthetics, we have spent time understanding the different treatments available and have selected those that we feel deliver the most consistent and reliable results. Our years as experts in our field mean that we have developed an ability to curate the most effective body contouring solutions for our clients.
The body contouring treatments we provide are detailed below.
Fat Freezing
Fat freezing is one of the most effective solutions to removing excess fat. The treatment has received praise from thousands of satisfied clients, with celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Fat freezing is one of the most important innovations in the industry. The development of this technique has enabled thousands of people to easily treat the problem of excess fat without the worry of undergoing surgery.
Fat freezing does as the name suggests. During the procedure, a device is used to target the area you would like your body contouring to focus on. While the top layer of your skin is protected, the device gets to work ‘freezing’ the fatty layer to around -1 degrees Celsius. You may be worried that a sub-zero temperature on your skin could cause damage or be painful, but that’s not the case at all. Those that have had the treatment say that they only felt mild discomfort initially, but thanks to the cold of the treatment, the area becomes numb very quickly.
Why does freezing fatty tissue get rid of it? Fat cells become unstable at a low temperature and as a result, they ‘die’ and your body gets rid of them through your lymphatic system. This means you’ll sweat, exhale and urinate out your excess fat!
Once fat cells are lost, they don’t regenerate so they won’t come back following treatment, however, it’s important to remember that the remaining fat cells can increase in size so it’s possible that you may gain weight in the same area if you don’t eat well and exercise.
Aqualyx
Aqualyx is an injectable solution that triggers fat loss. It’s made from cholanic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in your body. The role of cholanic acid is to break down fats in our body, so when used in an area of excess fat, Aqualyx helps to dissolve that buildup. It’s most effective in treating smaller areas, such as your chin, back or arms.
Much like fat freezing, the fat cells are liquified and expelled through your body’s metabolic system.
Exilis Elite
Exilis Elite utilises cutting edge technology to reduce fat and tighten your skin. The treatment, which is the only one on the market that uses a powerful combination of radiofrequency, high-intensity thermal ultrasound and skin cooling to target stubborn fat simultaneously, is FDA approved and has an outstanding clinical reputation.
The procedure is both quick, (it lasts around 45 minutes) and painless. Using a highly-targeted device, radiofrequency technology and ultrasound deliver a beam of concentrated heat that destabilises excess fat cells, causing them to be eliminated from your body.
The process used in Exilis Elite also helps to boost the collagen in the treated area which helps to tighten your skin. This reduces the risk of being left with sagging or loose skin once your excess fat has gone.
3D Lipo
3D Lipo also uses radiofrequency and low-frequency ultrasound to destroy fat cells. 3D Lipo has a different approach to the process but has shown equal success in body contouring.
It is important to note that none of the above treatments have been designed for weight loss. These treatments will shift stubborn fat that you find difficult to reduce alongside a good diet and regular exercise. Bespoke Body Contouring
Body contouring uses any combination of the above treatments to help you achieve your ideal physique. Each solution offers its own benefits and advantages, so a tailored approach is used to ensure that you get the very best from your body contouring plan.
