Your body stores fat in fat cells located in various parts of your body. Some people naturally have more fat cells than others and the number of fat cells you carry tends not to change, even when you lose weight. How Does It Work?

The way Fat Freezing works is wonderfully simple.

Using a specialist 3D Lipo device, we reduce the temperature down to the point at which the fat cells can no longer survive (around -6 degrees). This causes the fat cells to crystallise and disperse, leading to a permanent reduction in the number of fat cells in the area.

In the days and weeks after treatment, the destroyed cells are removed by the body’s natural processes, leaving you with a smooth, toned and sculpted appearance.

Because fat cells die at warmer temperatures than the rest of the body’s cells, including skin, muscles and vital organs, we can permanently reduce the number of fat cells in your body without causing damage to any other cells.

Before Your Treatment

It is a safe treatment, but there are some things you can do before your treatment to make sure you get the best results.

Before your treatment, avoid damaging or bruising the skin in the area that’s going to be treated – damaged skin might mean you have to postpone the procedure until it’s healed. It’s best to avoid tanning immediately before treatment too, as sun exposure can increase your skin sensitivity.

Don’t take blood thinners like aspirin and other anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen or Aleve, fish oil, multivitamins or vitamin E for at least a day beforehand, as they can increase the appearance of bruising after the treatment.

During Your Treatment

At the beginning of your treatment procedure, you’ll be helped to get comfortable on the bed and a gel pad will be placed on the area that you’re having treated. The 3D Lipo machine will be placed over the gel pad, with suction holding it in place.

You won’t feel any pain but you will feel coldness as the treatment begins. After a few minutes, the area will go numb and you won’t feel any discomfort for the rest of the session. During the treatment, you can relax, and many of our clients read a magazine or watch a film for the duration of the procedure as the treatments are comfortable and painless.

After the treatment is complete, the device is removed and the area is massaged using Shockwave to help aid the breakdown of the frozen cells and to encourage circulation and lymph drainage. The area will feel cold and firm straight after treatment, and you should let it come back to normal body temperature naturally.

The entire treatment takes between 30-60 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated.

After Your Treatment

After treatment, you can usually resume your usual schedule immediately – including returning to work or exercising. You will experience some numbness in the area that has been treated, however, this will resolve without any intervention. Some people get their sensation back within 2-4 hours, for others, it can take up to 24 hours.

Because your body has to clean out the destroyed fat cells naturally, the results will take a little time to start to show. Most people notice a difference within 3-4 weeks, but the best results will be visible around 8 weeks following treatment.

If you stick to a healthy diet and exercise routine – and don’t put weight back on – your results can be permanent.

Which is better Coolsculpting or 3D Lipo?

If you’ve been looking at non-surgical liposuction treatments and have been typing Fat Freezing into Google then you’ve probably come across both “Coolsculpting” and “3D Lipo”. Both use similar technology to tackle stubborn fat pockets.

Coolsculpting treatment times can be quite lengthy as it only has one applicator, which results in double the treatment time compared to 3D Lipo.

3D Lipo uses a combination of technologies which lead to better results when compared to Coolsculpting’s single Fat Freeze Technology:

Coolscuplting cannot treat cellulite or loose skin. Costs for Coolsculpting can be up to double that of 3D Lipo, primarily because CoolSculpting is supposed to be a Doctor led treatment, however in reality, the doctor will usually have a therapist deliver the treatment.

How quickly will I see the results from my treatment?

You might start to see some results after 2-4 weeks, but the full results will be seen after 8-12 weeks after your body has had time to naturally clear out the dead fat cells.

Does It hurt?

You will feel cold in the area and some patients report feeling a tugging sensation as the tissue is placed into the vacuum. However, the cold temperatures numb the area and most patients report feeling very comfortable during the treatment.

How Long do the Results Last For?

Once the fat cells are dead and removed, they are gone forever. However, if you gain weight again then your body can create new fat cells in the area that you had treated. A good diet and exercise should help prevent this from happening.

Is It Safe?

It is an FDA approved treatment that has been shown to be very safe.

There’s no general anaesthetic, no surgery and no incisions required, so there’s no risk of any of the complications that these can cause.

You might experience some bruising and redness following your treatment, but this should resolve in a few days.
