How Will I Know Which Kind of Wrinkle Reducing Treatment I Need?

What is the Difference Between Botox® and Azzalure® for Wrinkle Softening?
Both Botox® and Azzalure® are compounds of botulinum toxin type A, which is a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum.
Both brands work similarly, by stimulating nerves, relaxing the muscles and stopping them from contracting and creasing, which is what causes wrinkles in the first place. Azzalure® spreads farther from the point of injection than Botox® does, which can be an advantage for larger areas, while Botox® is better for smaller, more precise treatments. At your consultation, Dr. Shirin will be able to tell you which brand is better for your personal treatment plan.
In truth, after thousands of tests by clinics around the world, there are no significant differences between Azzalure® treatments, and Botox® treatments for the patient. When administered by a trained professional, they both help to ensure that skin is left visibly smoother and more beautiful.
What Can Anti-Wrinkle Injections Treat?
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat a variety of areas on the face to relax muscles, helping to stop wrinkles forming, as well as smoothing out lines that are already present on the face. It is often used on the upper part of the face such as the forehead, to treat frown lines, crow’s feet and bunny lines (lines that appear on the bridge of the nose when you sniff or sneeze), but can also treat areas in the lower face. These include the chin, to smooth out the jawline and prevent dimpling, and the neck, to improve the appearance of loose skin around the neck. Smoker’s lines (vertical lines that appear around the top lip), marionette lines (lines that reach from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin, giving the mouth a drooping or downturned effect) and milder nasolabial folds (smile lines) can also be treated.
Botox® and Azzalure® can be used for non-surgical face-slimming procedures, providing a more defined visage. They can also be used to turn up the tip of the nose, prevent the appearance of sagging skin, and are recognised as a treatment to improve the appearance of a gummy smile.
Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat excessive sweating (known as hyperhidrosis) in the armpits, forehead, palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Dr. Shirin will ask you about your medical history, any health conditions, prior surgeries or medications, to ensure that your procedure will be safe and that the treatment won’t interfere with your general health.

Dr. Shirin is a true industry leader, and is regarded as one of the best aesthetic doctors in the country by the press and her peers. She worked as an NHS doctor from 1999 until 2013 when she founded Elite Aesthetics, and during this time gained extensive experience in anaesthetics, general surgery, gynecology and urology. She also spent several years working as a GP and has been awarded multiple postgraduate diplomas.
Due to our values as a clinic and Dr. Shirin’s training and medical ethics, Elite Aesthetics are committed to never over treating any of our patients. If a patient were to request a procedure during their consultation that Dr. Shirin feels would not be the most beneficial course of action, we would not carry this out, and would instead work closely with them to create a more medically appropriate treatment plan.
During your Botox® or Azzalure® procedure, Dr. Shirin will communicate with you to get the results you want. Typically, your procedure will take around 40 minutes from start to finish. Dr. Shirin will mark the areas to be treated and then using a tiny needle will inject directly into the muscles. This is not painful, but some patients may experience slight discomfort, and a numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you feel it is required. The amount of Botox® or Azzalure® used will have been agreed during the consultation period.
After your procedure, you should avoid lying down for the first few hours, and not touch the treated areas or partake in strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. There is no downtime after an anti-wrinkle procedure, and you can get back to your day right away. The results of your treatment will improve gradually over the next 7-10 days, and will last for 3 – 6 months, after which time we recommend another treatment to maintain your results.
