Plexr: Everything You Need To Know
The world of anti-ageing treatments is an exciting one, with frequent new developments that enable us to provide you with more effective, less invasive solutions to the problems that ageing bring.
There are some really well-known treatments, like dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections, but did you know there’s a treatment that’s a closely guarded celeb secret?
Plexr can shave years off your looks within days – without surgery, scarring or needles. Read on to find out why this treatment is fast becoming the anti-ageing go-to for both men and women who want to look younger…
What is Plexr?
Plexr soft surgery is a revolutionary development in facial rejuvenation treatment. Until 2014 when Plexr was first launched, the only available solution to lax eyelid skin was invasive and expensive surgery. Nowadays, however, you can have plump, smooth skin in less than an hour – without the need for cutting and the associated risks and recovery time!
How Does Plexr Work?
So, in basic terms, during a Plexr treatment plasma energy is used to ‘evaporate’ unwanted skin cells leaving behind tighter, more youthful skin. It does sound a bit sci-fi, but plasma has been used in medical fields for many years with resounding success.
Plexr treatment uses a pen-like device to target your chosen area. A tiny arc is formed between the pen tip and your skin, and a process occurs where plasma energy is created. This energy creates a tiny spark, which turns your skin cells into a vapour, leaving behind a carbon crust. This then flakes away leaving you with tightened, smooth skin.
Is It Painful?
No, Plexr is a comfortable treatment that many patients fit into their lunch hour or after work. A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment begins so it is entirely painless. Some people experience a slight burning or tingling sensation afterwards, but this is easily managed with cooling gel.
What Can Plexr Treat?
Plexr is most commonly used as a non-surgical alternative to eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Here it can tighten hooded or sagging eyelids, giving you a more open-eyed, younger appearance.
Since its development, Plexr has rivalled traditional surgery in its popularity. As Plexr is considerably more affordable, has a faster recovery time and can treat both large and small areas it has been proven to be very effective in also treating;
- Smoker’s lines
Smoker’s lines or lip lines are the small lines that appear vertically from the outer edges of your lips. Contrary to the name, smoker’s lines don’t just affect smokers (although the effects of nicotine exacerbate this issue). - Fine lines and wrinkles
The decline of collagen and elastin in your skin leads to the appearance of fine lines, like crow’s feet, marionette lines, brow lines among others. These lines can make you look older, fatigued and drawn. - Moles
Moles can make you feel self-conscious or catch clothes uncomfortably. - Verrucas
Persistent verrucas can be painful, prevent you from taking part in some activity and even inhibit walking if they form on weight-bearing areas, like the feet. - Keloid scars
Keloid scars are raised growths of excessive scar tissue that form following skin ailments such as severe acne, piercings or skin infections. - Stretch marks
When skin stretches or shrinks quickly, your normal collagen production isn’t as effective. You can be left with deep, uneven ‘stripes’ on your tummy, legs and arms. - Acne scars
Long after acne has cleared up, you can be left with acne scars. These blemishes can make you feel anxious and shy. - Navel displacement
The elation of weight loss can be dulled by the excess of skin you’re left with. Often, with significant weight loss around your middle, you can find that your navel droops or moves position. - Drooping eyelids
The delicate skin around the eyes is often the first to show the signs of ageing. For many, this can meet the skin ‘pouches’ just above the eye socket, leaving you with a hooded, drooping look. - Skin tags
Skin tags are small excess skin growths that are harmless but can be embarrassing or uncomfortable if they catch on your clothes.
How Long Do The Results Last?
Since your skin cells are sublimated (turned into a gas), the treatment is as long-lasting as a surgical removal process. The treatment also encourages your body to produce new collagen in the treated area, adding improved volume over time.
For removal procedures, such as skin tags, moles and tattoos Plexr provides a permanent solution.
How Many Plexr Treatments Are Needed?
Usually, only one treatment is required to treat fine lines and smaller areas, however, if you are looking for a more dramatic transformation or the area you’d like treated is large, further treatments may be required. We will be able to guide you during your consultation so you have a better idea of how we can best achieve your ideal outcome.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The most common side effect reported is swelling of the area. This can be managed with a cold compress and/or anti-inflammatory medication, however, if there is heat and redness you should call the clinic to discuss your issue.
How Long Does Plexr Take To Heal?
Following your treatment, you will find the carbon crusts flake off within 14 days. The crusts look like little browny black dots and although you can’t use traditional coverup or foundation to hide them, you can get medical-grade foundations like Oxygenetix that are breathable and won’t hinder the healing process.
Some patients find they have moderate swelling, particularly when treatment is around the eye area. The swelling can last a day or two but can be managed with a cooling gel or a cold compress.
Can I Combine Plexr With Other Treatments?
It’s not advised to have additional treatments on the same day, however, Plexr can be paired with a number of other anti-ageing treatments to totally transform your appearance. The most popular combinations include dermal fillers to help create a more overall youthful look, Profhilo to further enhance your skin’s collagen and elastin production and the Hifu facial.
What Are The Benefits of Plexr?
Unlike traditional methods of lifting the eye area, Plexr doesn’t involve cutting the skin away, sutures or long recovery times. There is no scarring of the area and your results are permanent.
Plexr is a more natural treatment, using your body’s healing process to promote and enhance the smoothing effect.
