Overview

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel substances made up primarily of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid, and are injected into the skin to plump up, lift and tighten skin and used to treat a wide variety of skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and unhappiness with facial structure. Dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look that does not affect facial expression or movement.

Dermal fillers are a very flexible form of non-surgical aesthetic treatment, and can be used all over the face, including the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline, and under the eyes for clients in Sidcup, Orpington, Dartford, Kings Hill, Greenhithe and the surrounding areas. We have seen some fantastic results with the latest collagen boosting fillers by Ellanse.

The most popular and safest form of dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid based. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally exists in your body, and is incredibly hydrophilic (meaning it attracts water), increasing moisture and hydration levels in the skin. Hyaluronic fillers are also our fillers of choice at Elite Aesthetics because they are biodegradable, malleable and unlike other filler materials, are easy to remove. They are also less prone to complications when injected by a trained professional than other filler types, which may require surgical removal.

The results of a single dermal filler treatment can be seen instantly and can last from around 6 to 18 months, depending on the filler and site of injection, after which time the filler dissolves naturally in the body and the treated areas revert back to their pretreatment state. Areas with less muscle movement such as the temples, jawline or tear troughs tend to last longer than areas that move more, like the cheeks, nose and lips, which will need repeat treatments more often to maintain their results.

Cheek Fillers

Cheek fillers are a specialist, non-surgical aesthetic treatment that can be used to help lift and shape the face. At Elite Aesthetics, we can create a more youthful and balanced appearance using dermal fillers, enhancing your natural beauty and helping you feel refreshed and confident in your own skin.

The cheek area is often one of the first parts of the face impacted by the effects of ageing, as it isn’t the skin that is impacted on first, but the volume of the cheeks, as the subcutaneous fat under the skin begins to disappear. The volume loss process can be affected by genetics, but in the majority of people, fat and volume loss in the mid face occurs first, creating a more angular appearance, as opposed to the youthful, plumper and rounder face shape you may have had when you were younger.

As this facial volume is lost, the cheeks droop down, impacting not only the appearance of the cheeks and middle face, but also the chin, jawline, eyes and face shape, as well as exacerbating fine lines in the lower face, like marionette lines and nasolabial folds. As an area with so much effect on the overall appearance of the face, cheek fillers can help improve the structure of the face and reduce the visible signs of ageing quite drastically, and with instant results.

Cheek fillers can also be used to treat concerns about facial structure and symmetry not caused by the ageing process. Naturally occurring asymmetry in the cheeks, jawline, chin and cheekbones can all be evened out using cheek filler, and they can also be used to give lift and contour to complexions lacking definition.

Loved by a variety of celebrities for its anti-ageing and rejuvenating results, cheek fillers are an effective treatment against the signs of ageing, giving structure and lift to the mid-face area.

Dr Shirin believes in natural looking results and uses the minimal amount of filler to get the best results. This means that not only do you have lovely looking lips, you’ll also save money. So, we would recommend that rather than asking for the cost of 1ml of filler, you could be asking more about the experience of the injector and their safety standards. See 8 Point Facelift filler information.

Dr Shirin has studied under the best lip injectors in the world and has recently won the 100 Global Aesthetic Leaders in the World. She can obtain the same results with 1ml that other injectors would use 3,4,5 and even 6ml. Elite Aesthetics is also a Save Face Excellence Award Winner.

What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

Dermal fillers can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, as well as revitalise the skin.

Common areas treated using dermal fillers are:

  • Nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth).
  • Marionette lines (from the corner of the mouth downwards).
  • Lips (enhancing their shape, definition and volume, and treating smokers lines).

We are also able to use dermal fillers to carry out more advanced procedures including:

  • Filling in tear troughs.
  • Lateral brow lifts (lifting drooping brows or eyelids).
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty (using dermal fillers to smooth out any bumps and straighten the nose).
  • Filling out temples.
  • Sculpting and chiselling the jawline.
  • Shaping and lifting the chin.
What Can Cheek Fillers Treat?

Cheek fillers not only help to restore volume loss in the cheeks, but also lifts and tightens the rest of the lower face, creating a full, youthful appearance. Cheek fillers are perfect for treating:

  • A loss of volume in the cheeks.
  • Sunken or hollow cheeks.
  • Flatness in the cheeks.
  • Nasolabial folds.
  • A drooping or sagging jawline.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles in the lower face.

Cheek fillers can also be used to correct asymmetry in the face by building volume gently. This can help to correct an uneven jawline and lower face, as well as lifting and sharpening the cheekbones to create a more sculpted, contoured appearance. For those of us with a natural lack of definition in the cheeks and lower face, cheek fillers can be used to add this definition and help make you feel more confident and comfortable in your appearance.

As a specialist dermal filler treatment, cheek fillers can help to increase the volume of the mid and lower face, giving amazing, instant anti-ageing benefits, while also being able to correct asymmetry or volume loss in the face.

What Are The Different Types Of Cheek Filler?

Cheek filler treatment is commonly carried out using Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, a very popular and natural looking type of filler. Hyaluronic acid is a biodegradable, naturally occurring substance that the body gently breaks down over time. Hyaluronic fillers are fantastic for a variety of non-surgical dermal filler procedures as they are easily reversible, flexible, come in a variety of different thicknesses and specialisms, and create a natural, soft and plump appearance. When carrying out a cheek filler treatment, usually a thicker, more viscous type of dermal filler is used, to help ensure effective volume restoration and increase the longevity of the filler, as the cheeks are naturally a very mobile part of the face. HA fillers will usually biodegrade in between nine and eighteen months, after which top-up treatments are recommended.

One of the most effective types of cheek filler is Ellanse, which is not currently widely available in the UK, putting Elite Aesthetics at the very forefront of the aesthetics industry. At Elite Aesthetics, we have extensive experience working with Ellanse filler, and are passionate about its revolutionary benefits. Ellanse is not a hyaluronic acid filler, and instead uses polycaprolactone (PCL) as its filler, which is suspended in a water-based carrier gel to create a smooth and beautiful appearance. The popularity of PCL fillers is increasing, as it is a long-lasting alternative to HA fillers, and can last from twelve months up to four years. Having been used as a material in bioresorbable sutures (those that are able to be broken down naturally and removed by the body) and orthopaedic implants for many years, the safety profile of PCL fillers is excellent, and they are highly regarded by the medical community. As a completely bioresorbable substance, they are an impermanent treatment, however they still last for considerably longer than standard hyaluronic fillers.

One of the other major advantages of Ellanse filler is that it not only lifts and fills the area, but also triggers collagen production in the skin, helping to reduce fine lines and reduce volume loss in the face naturally. Known as a bio-stimulating dermal filler, Ellanse takes advantage of the body’s own response to foreign materials. The body’s natural response to the filler is to stimulate collagen production and surround the PCL molecules beneath the skin. This helps to boost and rejuvenate the skin by increasing the natural level of collagen production, giving strength, elasticity and volume back to the skin. It also helps to ensure the longevity of the Ellanse filler, as the collagen ‘protects’ the PCL molecules from biodegrading.

As the cheeks are such a mobile area of the face, finding a product that is long-lasting and effective can be a challenge. At Elite Aesthetics, our range of dermal fillers have been carefully selected for a variety of uses, to ensure you get beautiful, natural looking results with longevity. As well as the specialist Ellanse filler, we also carry HA filler brands Teosyal, Restylane and Juvederm VYCROSS, to help Dr. Shirin, our practice leader and medical director, tailor your treatment to you. As a highly qualified aesthetic doctor with over 20 years of medical experience, Dr. Shirin has an in-depth understanding of how different fillers work and behave to ensure you get the best possible results every time.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers have one of the best safety profiles of any injectable treatment, due to their biodegradable nature. As hyaluronic acid can be broken down by the body naturally, there’s very little risk of permanent damage, especially when treatment is carried out by someone as experienced in injection techniques and non-surgical aesthetics as Dr. Shirin, who carries out all of our dermal filler and injectable treatments.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

The amount of time dermal fillers lasts can vary massively between individuals, based on a wide variety of factors. These can include the type of filler injected, the amount of filler used, the area of the face being treated and how mobile it is, and how quickly the body naturally breaks down the filler.

However, generally dermal filler treatments last from around 6-18 months, after which time you can have top-up or repeat treatments to maintain optimum results, or add a little more filler if Dr. Shirin feel it is advisable.

Do Dermal Fillers Hurt?

While dermal fillers are an injectable treatment, at Elite Aesthetics we do everything we can to reduce your discomfort and make the treatment as pleasant as possible. We offer numbing cream to all of our patients if required, and Dr. Shirin is an expert injector, with extensive experience in different techniques due to her time working in anaesthetics in the NHS. All this ensures that our patients have the most comfortable and safe experience possible during dermal filler treatments at Elite Aesthetics.

Should I Have Botox (Anti-Wrinkle Injections) or Dermal Fillers?

Botox, or anti-wrinkle injections, and dermal fillers are some of the most popular anti-ageing treatments we offer, and while they can both offer incredible results, they work very differently, so if you aren’t sure which is right for you, contact Dr. Shirin and the team to find out what we recommend.

Dermal fillers work to lift, smooth and tighten the skin by adding volume under the skin in targeted areas, which makes them perfect for treating areas where volume may have been lost, resulting in fine lines or deeper wrinkles. An example of this would be nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines), which often become more pronounced as we age due to the drooping of skin and loss of volume in the lower face. Dermal fillers can reintroduce volume to this area and dramatically reduce the appearance of these lines.

However, where signs of ageing are caused by the skin folding or creasing, such as crow’s feet wrinkles around the eyes, botox carefully freezes targeted muscles by blocking nerve signals to the brain in the area, which prevents the skin from folding or creasing, and reducing fine lines in this way.

Our Process
Our Process

The dermal filler procedure itself usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, with instantly visible results and little to no downtime. All of our fillers contain local anaesthetic for a more comfortable treatment experience, and we can use a numbing cream before the procedure if required. We use a gradual process to ensure your results are natural and beautiful, and to avoid overfilling. Small amounts of swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness are completely normal after a dermal filler procedure, and usually disappear after a few days.

Depending on the dermal filler procedure you choose to have with us, Dr Shirin will use her expert opinion to tailor your treatment to you. Dermal fillers come in a variety of formulas and thicknesses, each for different results and treatments. For example, if you’re having a lip filler procedure, a smoother and more elastic filler that adapts to the natural movement of the lips would be appropriate, while filler in the tear troughs, jaw or chin with less expressive muscle movement requires a thicker and more static variety of filler. Dr. Shirin has an in depth knowledge of the properties of each filler we offer at Elite Aesthetics to make sure you get the right product for you, resulting in perfect, safe and natural-looking results.

At Elite Aesthetics we use high-quality Teosyal, Ellanse, Restylane and Juvederm Vycross fillers, each with their own advantages. Teoxane’s range of Teosyal fillers are designed specifically to adapt to the most mobile areas of the face, such as the lips, nose and cheeks for lasting results. Ellanse fillers are designed to provide long-lasting results for deeper wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Restylane is one of the market leaders in dermal fillers, with a 90% approval rating on realself.com. Juvederm Vycross is Juvederm’s premium range of fillers, which uses a combination of high and low-weight hyaluronic acid, resulting in a smoother, more natural looking gel that is easier and less painful to inject.

Depending on the treatment you are having, your age, skin type, lifestyle and personal preferences, Dr. Shirin will use her extensive knowledge and experience, and work with you to choose the right product for your dermal filler procedure.

Yesterday I had a 'body sculpt' session, to help lymphatic drainage. I was zipped into a suit up to my waist. This massaged and lightly squeezed my feet, ankles, calves, thighs and abdomen. I was breathing oxygen rich air via nasal tubes. It was very relaxing and I slept really well last night. Thank you Elite Aesthetics.
