Can The O-Shot Help With Incontinence?
Incontinence affects around 50% of women in the UK, but even with such a high number, many women still feel too embarrassed to speak about it and seek help.
And even though support is widely available, you might find that the idea of talking to your doctor about it is filling you with dread.
Elite Aesthetics specialises in women’s intimate health, and we’ve made it our mission to bring pioneering treatments to the UK designed to help treat conditions in new, innovative ways.
The O-Shot has been used in our clinic for years, and Dr Shirin is one of the UK’s leading practitioners. It is proven to help alleviate the symptoms of incontinence and can even provide some surprising extra benefits too!

What Is The O Shot?
The O-Shot uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to improve collagen production in your vaginal tissue. PRP contains essential cell-regenerating growth factors that can help tighten vaginal laxity to help reduce problems with urinary incontinence.
The procedure works by taking a small amount of your blood, which is spun at a high frequency within a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. Your doctor will inject this PRP into your desired treatment area. This might sound painful, but the whole procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel a thing.
Women who have had the O-Shot report a dramatic decrease in their urinary incontinence symptoms. The results can last up to 12 months and can be easily repeated if needed.
How The O-Shot Helps With Incontinence
There are several types of incontinence, including:
- Stress incontinence – This type of incontinence happens when there is pressure on the bladder, such as when you cough, sneeze, or laugh. It can also occur when exercising or lifting something heavy.
- Urge incontinence – This is when you have a sudden need to go to the toilet, often followed by an involuntary loss of urine. This kind of incontinence could be the result of something minor, like an infection, or a more severe condition, such as diabetes.
- Overflow incontinence – Also known as chronic urinary retention, is when you need to go to the toilet frequently but are unable to fully empty your bladder, this causes frequent leaking.
- Functional incontinence – If you have a physical or mental impairment, or are suffering from mental confusion, it might prevent you from making it to the toilet in time. For example, if you suffer from severe arthritis, this might prevent you from unbuttoning your clothes quickly enough.
Causes can include:
- Pregnancy and childbirth
- Ageing
- Menopause
- Medication
- Medical conditions
The O-Shot helps by encouraging new, rejuvenated tissue growth in the vaginal walls. This provides support for the bladder and urethra, giving women more control and helping to ease the symptoms of incontinence.
What Are The Benefits Of The O-Shot?
As well as helping to alleviate incontinence, the O-Shot provides other benefits too, such as:
- Vaginal lubrication
- Tighter vaginal opening
- Heightened orgasm
- Increased libido
Many women going through hormonal changes, such as menopause, have found the O-Shot helped them regain their sex lives and helped them start feeling more like themselves again. The effects aren’t just physical; the positive results encourage better mental health and overall happiness, too.
Are There Other Treatments For Incontinence?
There are other effective treatments for incontinence, such as:
Emsella
The Emsella chair is a revolutionary treatment that helps you complete pelvic floor exercises comfortably and effectively.
Strengthening your pelvic floor improves pelvic floor muscles, and each 28-minute session is the equivalent of 11,000 pelvic floor tenses – kegels – with 6 treatments recommended as a minimum.
It works by using electromagnetic technology to stimulate pelvic floor muscles. The device looks just like a chair, and during the procedure, you sit, fully clothed, on the chair whilst the electromagnets work their magic.
The results of the Emsella chair can last up to 12 months but can be extended with top-up treatments if needed.
Ultra Femme 360
The Ultra Femme 360 is a revolutionary treatment that can help with urinary incontinence as well as provide complete vaginal rejuvenation, such as labial remodelling and vaginal tightening.
The Ultra Femme 360 has a proven track record in tightening the vaginal canal and opening, improving its appearance, as well as increasing orgasms and reducing vaginal dryness.
It uses an FDA-approved radiofrequency device, similar to a speculum (commonly used when you get a smear test) but smaller and more comfortable.
The tip is moved along the whole length of the vaginal canal towards the cervix and back towards the opening. The small band at the end of the device emits radiofrequency waves, which painlessly penetrate deeply into your tissue whilst gently elevating the temperature of the cells to over 40°C. This stimulates new collagen production, improving blood flow and elasticity.
